Sagar Bapat, MD, PhD

Research Fellow

Sagar Bapat, MD, PhD is a research fellow in Diabetes Center and the Department of Laboratory Medicine. His laboratory studies how shifts in systemic and cellular metabolism affect the immune response. Sagar earned his B.S. from Stanford University in Chemistry, which was followed by matriculation into the Medical Scientist Training Program at the University of California, San Diego. There he pursued his Ph.D. studies with Ye Zheng and Ron Evans at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies. After graduation, Sagar conducted his residency in Laboratory Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco, while engaging in research with Alexander Marson.
