Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

UCSF Diabetes Center welcomes all individuals—regardless of their gender, race, age, sexual orientation, physical ability, or socioeconomic status—to our community and culture of mutual respect.

Our Commitment

Creative and breakthrough research accomplishment depend on having current and future generations of scientists from diverse backgrounds. The UCSF Diabetes Center is committed to promote Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in scientific research. We promote recruitment of faculty and trainees from underrepresented minorities, and facilitate their career development. We partner with university programs, such as PROPEL (Post-baccalaureate Research Opportunity to Promote Equity in Learning) and SEP (Science and Health Education Partnership), Endocrinology T32 training program, NORC, as well as philanthropists to support and train the new generations of young scientists from underprivileged backgrounds. We also actively engage in community building and education on diabetes, with the ultimate mission to develop a cure for diabetes.
