Katie Herm

Graduate Student

I am originally from Los Angeles and earned my bachelor's degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of California, Santa Cruz. As an undergraduate, I worked at Switchback Systems, contributing to the development of a benchtop DNA synthesizer. After graduation, I joined Dr. Rohit Bose's lab at UCSF, where I studied prostate cancer heterogeneity and therapy resistance. I am now interested in understanding how placental lactogens regulate beta cell proliferation and maturation during pregnancy and the postnatal period.

In my free time, I like to play soccer, go on walks around the city, try new hobbies, and watch movies with my roommates!
