Hong Sun, PhD

Postdoctoral Fellow

Hong Sun grew up in Macau, China, and moved to the U.S. in 2001. She went to high school in Alameda, CA, and went to UC Berkeley for undergraduate and majored in Molecular and Cell Biology with an emphasis in Cell Biology. Hong worked closely with Dr. Beiyan Nan in Dr. Davis Zusman’s lab on studying the signaling transduction that regulates motility in Myxococcus xanthus. She also worked shortly in Genentech before entering the graduate program at Johns Hopkins University. Hong obtained a PhD in Immunology in Dr. Jonathan Powell’s lab studying mTOR regulation on T cell differentiation and metabolism. In the Gardner lab, Hong is studying how eTACs regulate peripheral tolerance, particularly during early pregnancy. When she is not in the lab, Hong likes to bake and eat, read, binge-watch Netflix, and do occasional traveling with friends.
