Alexander Gupta, MD
Alexander (Alex) Gupta is a clinical general surgery resident in the UCSF Department of Surgery. He plans to pursue a surgical career specializing in abdominal solid organ transplantation. Alex joined the Gardner lab in 2020, and his research has aimed to understand mechanisms driving peripheral immune tolerance as it relates to transplant and tumor immunology.
He received undergraduate degrees in Electrical and Biomedical Engineering from Southern Methodist University in 2012, and he received his medical degree at the University of Texas Medical Branch in 2016. Outside of work, Alex is an avid golfer when time permits. He also enjoys driving, dining, and keeping up with his favorite professional sports teams.
