Justin Zhong

Justin Zhong earned his PhD in Bioengineering from the University of California, San Francisco under the mentorship of Dr. Tejal Desai, where he studied the immunomodulatory capacity of biomaterials for tissue repair.
His current research focuses on engineering islet-supportive graft beds for beta cell replacement therapies, exploring methods to improve beta cell survival through modulating the transplant site before and during transplantation. Outside of lab, he enjoys cooking, running, and spending time in nature.
