Peng Xiao

Peng Xiao received her PhD from Université Libre de Bruxelles in Belgium, where studied the role of inflammation and cell death signaling pathways in beta cells in the development of diabetes.
Her research focuses on optimizing beta cell replacement therapy for type 1 diabetes, that is, treating type 1 diabetes by promoting islet survival after islet transplantation. For this, she still focuses on beta cell death events under stress but switches to the islet transplantation scenario. Additionally, she is also investigating islet survival after transplantation by promoting islet vascular endothelial cell survival and angiogenesis.
Outside of the lab, she enjoys reading, watching anime, playing video games and visiting museums.
