Peter Zhong, PhD

Associate Specialist

Peter Zhong trained in medicine in China at the Medical School of the University of Jiamusi. He then obtained his PhD in Medical Sciences and taught as an assistant professor at the Faculty of Medicine at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Interested in the genetics and epigenetics of cancer, Peter arrived in the United States in 2004 and worked as a postdoctoral research fellow at the Shands Cancer Center at the University of Florida. He then moved to California in 2006, where he started working at UCSF. He is now in the Gardner lab, studying immunology and investigating the role of extrathymic Aire-expressing cells. In his free time, he likes to hike, fish, and work around cars.
